Westerbeke	Replace impeller

	While winterizing my boat for the winter of 09-10, I noticed that my Westerbeke generator no longer picked up water. So, I figured its impeller was shot.

	The impeller is located here. Remove 2 half inch bolts, loosend and remove two hoses, and it pops right off.

Bad impeller	Yes, no doubt about it. The impeller has had it. I found most of the pieces. Here is what's left of the impeller ... no fins, no nothing. But do notice the screw that is a part of the impeller


West Marine	West Marine to the rescue. I looked all over the web for the impeller. Everyone wanted $45 for it, and I was never sure if it was the correct part. So, I took my poor shredded remains of my impeller and the impeller housing into West Marine. They have a chart of impellers, and the good folks of West Marine suggested I purchase part number JABSCO Profile D 22405-0001-P. Not only did this part fit perfectly, but the gasgets were a perfect match too. Remember the screw ... the package even has a replacement screw. And only $20-ish.


Repair	With the perfect matching parts, repair is a snap. Here is the impeller housing, with impeller. Only thing left to do is screw the cover on ... four screws .... and put it back on the generator.
